The Light Within You

Hi {{ first_name|default:'' }}! Thank you for joining us today.

Today I was going to make the main subject of my email about fear, but I felt a call to make the subject more positive. Fear has been rampant in the world the last few years and with Halloween just around the corner, maybe what we need more of is light and truth, not fear.

So with that subject in mind I want to draw your attention to the picture you see above. My sister painted this picture and it hangs in my little girls' room. I love that when I put my girls to bed at night I can just see enough of this picture to see the girl holding something bright. I have spent many nights pondering this picture and what it means to me.

As I look into this picture I am reminded that each of us carries a light within us. A light that no one else can carry, it is unique to each of us. As I watch my children grow, I try to remember that they have a light to shine to the world. A unique light just from them. I feel my job as their mom is to help guide them to find the light that is within them and to help them develop that light so that their brightness can shine to all those who are around them.

If you have ever been around someone who just seems happy or who just seems to shine you know what I'm talking about. That kind of light is infectious. To give a few examples some people carry it in a humble/meek kind of way. Others carry it with an infectious laugh and smile. Still others carry it with their confidence and charm. No matter what kind of light we carry I'm so grateful that we all are unique and individually special.

One of the greatest examples of lights that I can think of is the Savior. One of his names is Light of the world. As I strive to become like him and share his light with others I am reminded that these last couple of years has put a toll on so many of us. The light we once had may be dimmed just a little and we don't know the difference because it has been so gradual. We may feel weak or just a little torn down. I'd like to suggest just a couple of things you can do to help you shine just a little brighter.

The first idea I want to share is to give our pain and suffering to the one who was willing to
atone for it, the Savior. He is ready and willing to take the burdens we carry. He already paid the price so we don't have to. We can give him the pain and he is more than willing to take it.

The second thing that can help our light shine is service. Some may choose to do big service projects which is great, but when I think about service I want to think about my neighbors. Many think that sending things to foreign countries and helping with natural disasters, which is still amazing, is the only way to serve others. But is there a neighbor across the street that could use our help? Do the people within your realm of influence need to feel God's love? We never know the difference we can make with a small phone call, a little treat, watching someone's kid for a few hours, or just simply listening.

If you decided to do some service I would love to hear about it. I hope this Christmas I can get some stories of service that you guys have done to share. I am always inspired by the stories of others, so if you have a story you want to share about how your family served someone else please email us and tell us about it at support@jackzeeplace.com, or tag us on Facebook or Instagram.

We look forward to sharing the light of Christ with a few families every Christmas season. Thsi will be our 2nd year to be able to share our nativity sets. We usually include our kids in prayer to know what families we think we should serve. I know it will make a difference in people's lives and I'm so excited to bring the light of Christ into their homes with this product!

God Bless,

Christy and the family
